Abel Liberia recently organized an introductory beekeeping training in Bassa Village, Grand Gedeh County, aiming to empower local farmers and youth with the knowledge and skills to engage in sustainable beekeeping. The training was designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of apiculture, from understanding bee behavior and hive management to honey extraction and beeswax processing.
Participants learned about the importance of bees in pollination, food security, and income generation, as well as best practices for maintaining healthy colonies. The practical sessions included hands-on experience with modern hives, safety precautions, and techniques for harvesting honey without harming the bees.
Abel Liberia emphasized the potential of beekeeping as a profitable venture that can create livelihoods while promoting environmental sustainability. Attendees left the training equipped with essential knowledge, practical skills, and the motivation to start their own beekeeping projects, contributing to the growth of the local apiculture sector in Grand Gedeh County.
This initiative reflects Abel Liberia’s commitment to community empowerment, sustainable agriculture, and rural economic development, fostering skills that can enhance both food security and income generation for communities.
