The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), under the Food and Farmers Facility (FFF) project, has extended vital support to the Twah River Beekeepers Association (TRIBA) in Nimba County. This initiative was implemented through the Association of Beekeepers – Liberia (ABEL), with the goal of strengthening community-based beekeeping and enhancing rural livelihoods.

Through this support, TRIBA members received both technical training and material assistance, enabling them to improve hive management, honey production, and beeswax processing. The intervention also focused on promoting sustainable apiculture practices, ensuring that beekeeping contributes not only to household income but also to environmental conservation and biodiversity protection.

The FAO’s backing has further empowered TRIBA to expand its operations, strengthen organizational capacity, and increase access to markets for honey and other bee products. This partnership highlights the critical role of beekeeping in supporting food security, diversifying income sources, and building climate resilience in rural Liberia.

The collaboration between FAO, ABEL, and TRIBA demonstrates the power of collective action in advancing community development, creating opportunities for farmers, and fostering a more sustainable agricultural sector in Nimba County.
